KAMAK – A Legacy of Values Since 1941
The Beginning: 1st Generation (1941)
Rao Sahib K.A.M.A. Kaliappa Nadar, a distinguished merchant banker and businessman, founded the firm in Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Sivakasi, and Trichy. The company imported and distributed iron and steel from England, cement from Japan, teak from Burma, and other building materials. It earned a reputation as the sole dealer in the southern region for several government-approved products.
At a time when infrastructure development was accelerating across South India, the business stood for reliability and ethical trade practices. Customers trusted the name not merely for availability of materials, but for the assurance that every transaction was fair and transparent.
Building Indian Industry: 2nd Generation
Annamalaisamy Kamak assumed leadership during the period when India’s industrial revolution was gaining momentum from 1950 onwards. He shifted focus toward promoting indigenous products such as Everest Roofing Sheets, Tata Iron and Steel, Asian Paints, and a wide range of hardware and plumbing items.
Under his stewardship, the company emphasized quality and equitable pricing. This was not just a commercial strategy; it was a philosophy that good products should be accessible to ordinary customers.
Pioneering a New Market: 3rd Generation
Rabindran Kamak emerged as a trailblazer in 1980 by pioneering the introduction of ceramic tiles to Trichy. He also became one of the earliest dealers for Parryware in the southern region and played a key role in bringing branded bathroom fittings to the Trichy market.
This period marked a transformation in customer expectations. Homes were no longer built only for utility; they began reflecting lifestyle and design. KAMAK recognized this shift early and helped shape the modern bathroom and interior market in the region.
The Premium Era: 4th Generation
Ramesh Kamak expanded the business into the premium and luxury segment by introducing high-end bath fittings and luxury sanitaryware from leading international brands in 2000. His approach combined world-class products with competitive pricing, exceptional customer service, and strong after-sales support.
In an industry where many focus only on selling products, KAMAK focused on building long-term relationships. The result has been sustained customer loyalty across generations of homeowners, architects, builders, and institutions.
More Than a Business
What makes KAMAK unique is not merely its longevity. It is the continuity of values across changing markets. From imported building materials in the 1940s to luxury bathware in the 21st century, the company has constantly evolved without compromising its principles.
- Integrity in every transaction
- Quality without compromise
- Fair and transparent pricing
- Respect for customers and partners
- Commitment to service beyond the sale
